- The agent earns income from their business well into retirement
- The agent is fulfilled and happy
The residential real estate industry as a whole in regards to the long term success of real estate agents could only be described as atrocious. This industry’s blight is caused by the industry’s Leaders, Brokers, Managers, and Trainers for hire and the agents themselves. Many of these individuals, companies and institutions continue to promote long term entrenched business processes’, methods and beliefs that simply are counterproductive.
A significant portion of the problem is that there is a plague of attraction / obsession for seeking “immediate result solutions” to increasing sales. Immediate results are not usually sustainable and are not usually client friendly. In comparison the insurance industry for the most part teaches and encourages steady and slow growth of clientele to their agents through relationship building and servicing, where the real estate industry promotes significant income in the short term. The difference in the long term success of a financial or insurance provider to a typical real estate agent cannot even compare.
To give you an idea how significant the malady is, we only need to look to Sacramento County the State Capital of California as an example. The local MLS as over 10,000 agents paying quarterly dues to access this information yet there are less than 1500 homes being sold each month. This means that the average agent closes less than 2 escrows per year.
